$50.00

Dr. Ferenc Hamori, a native of Hungary, lived in North Andover, Massachusetts from 1958 until 1965. Dr. Hamori’s paintings were most often done in watercolor, which was the best medium for his impressionist style. His work was generally done on site in one sitting, usually within two or three hours. While he painted extensively during his travels through Europe and the United States, many of his paintings portray local sites in Boston and The Andovers. This painting, New England Winter, was painted from a vantage point in a meadow off Salem Street, and features the North Parish Church and homes along Stevens Street and Academy Road.

UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) chose this painting of the North Andover Old Center for worldwide distribution in 1972. It was one of six art works which represented the United States as a UNICEF Holiday Card that year.
